As you heard in the video, I didn't start with the intention of being an hypnotherapist, NLP practitioner, coach or BWRT Accredited Practitioner.
Having met my husband-to-be, when studying for my BA
(Hons) Fashion, I ended up living near Inverness, in the beautiful Highlands of Scotland. We were there for 18 years. Then moved south to California in the Central Belt of Scotland, where we lived for a further 10 years.
During this time I trained as a life coach with the Coaching Academy and was a founding member of the Association of Coaching in Scotland.
Having discovered coaching and personal development I then trained in NLP with Jonathan Clark, in Glasgow. I went on to study with the London College of Clinical Hypnosis, in Glasgow. Where I achieved my Diploma and Advanced Practitioner in Clinical Hypnosis. This training included EMDR. A third year of training in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy introduced me to this really helpful combination of hypnosis and CBT. I am a supervisor for the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis.
As part of my own clinical practise I receive regular supervision. This allow me to reflect and consider how I work with clients and also discuss other areas of work. It is confidential and any client cases discussed are kept anonymous.
I've trained with Dr Michael Yapko, a leading US psychotherapist, who uses hypnosis to help his clients with depression, anxiety and other issues. I was part of his group mentoring sessions for two years.
On returning to the Newcastle area in 2009, for family reasons, I went on to train with and work for Relate as a Couple and Relationship Counsellor. This was part-time whilst I, again, built up my private practice. Most recently I trained in BrainWorking Recursive Therapy with the Terence Watts Institute of BWRT and I am a supervisor and examiner for this therapeutic technique.
We now live in Backworth, not far from the beautiful, north-east coast and Northumberland. From here I work with clients, both local and from all over the world, online via Zoom, WhatsApp or phone.
